EDUCATIONUK - SCHOLARSHIPS AND FUNDING
BRITISH SCHOLARSHIPS
The British Scholarships 2010 have been awarded. The call for British Scholarships 2011 will open in February 2011.

The British Scholarships are offered to Finns for postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. So, if you hold a Bachelor’s degree or above already, this might interest you.

The British Scholarship Programme is funded by the following companies: PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sampo, UPM-Kymmene and Wärtsilä. The Patron of the scheme is Jorma Ollila, Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell and Nokia. The scholarships are administered by British Council Finland.

Amount of Funding
The award is a partial contribution towards the costs of a single person’s post-graduate studies in the UK. In exceptional cases we may also offer scholarships to shorter research periods. It is assumed that successful candidates will secure additional funding from other sources. The maximum value of each scholarship is 10,000 euros.

Eligibility
The awards are open to Finnish applicants in the following fields:

Climate Change
Entrepreneurship and Leadership
European Issues
International Business Management
EU Law

The scholarships are aimed at students wishing to undertake full-time taught postgraduate courses or research at UK universities. Previous holders of British Council administered scholarships may not apply. Candidates must be fluent in both written and spoken English. The MBA is not included in the list of eligible subjects.

English language requirements may vary from institution to institution, so it is important that you check this with the institution that you are applying to. Ninety-seven percent of the British institutes prefer the IELTS exam. You can take the IELTS exam in Finland at Finnbrit. For further details about test dates, cost and materials to help you prepare for the test, please contact Finnbrit.

Placement
If you don't have your university place secured at the time you apply for the British Scholarship, you should indicate on the application form which university you have applied to.

Applications
Applications must be accompanied by two academic references in sealed envelopes. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview. Please note that an attendance at an interview is an essential requirement.
