| The Hyvinkää Future City Game took place on the 25th of November at the Old Wool Factory in Hyvinkää city. The city showed wide interest in the results and provided considerable backing for the occasion. Other hosts included arts & business management firm Pink Eminence and IADE, the joint Arts Colleges’ institute for art development and education.
The aim of the Hyvinkää session was to seek ideas for the development of the Old Wool Factory area, with a view to partially redesigning and rebuilding the surroundings into a viable living and commercially attractive entity. The Future City Game played there constituted a planning workshop and was incorporated into the work of a designated Development Committee, appointed by the mayor Raimo Lahti. The winning idea of this game proposed a Summer Festival for Children to be organised in the premises of the Old Wool Factory as part of the new Hyvinkää branding strategy.
The second game of this project took place in Billnäs on the 5th of March. The Billnäs Future City games gathered officials and creative entrepreneurs to create ideas and visions for the development of tourism services in Lohja and Raasepori towns. The history and culture of this area offers good possibilities to develop versatile and attractive tourist services to attract customers from all around Finland and abroad. The area has been traditionally inhibited by the Swedish speaking minority; therefore the game was run both in Finnish and in Swedish. The winning idea of this game suggested a trip for single persons as a new type of service in this area. The idea called “Listen to the sounds of ironworks” won the price for the most creative presentation.
